How do I know it is a precious metal? Most of the time, if the jewelry is made of a precious metal, then it will have a small makers stamp somewhere on it. You can use that stamp to figure out what the piece is most likely made of, sometimes however the stamp could be deceiving or not entirely clear so there are chemical tests and electronic testers which will give you an accurate reading of what most metals are.
